Movie Review: Bad Boys For Life
With all the exciting new movies, books, plays and so much more that came out so far into the 2020 year, I would like to review a very popular movie. The movie Bad Boys For Life came out during January 17, 2020, which had a lot of hits and positive reviews. I am a big fan of this series and with this one that came out made the series so much better. There was a lot of comedy in which I liked because I am a big fan of comedy movies but also there was a lot of action which kept the audience entertained. This movie had a little bit of everything which could be easily liked.
One of the main things while watching the movie that I was looking at was the content and how the narrators made the movie. During the movie the characters names Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey both had been partners for many years for the police department and after chasing bad guys (as they say) they were getting older and tired. Marcus was ready to retire and did for a while in the movie, but he got back into being a detective when his partner Mike got shot and almost died. While the narrator was making these sentimental pieces to the movie there was also a lot of action with the parts of drug trafficking and how the police department was trying to stop the big drug lords in Miami. I felt as if the narrators worked on having a bit of pathos, ethos and logos in their movie as I was watching it, I felt each element as it draws the audience into the movie. With this movie there was never a time when it felt boring because it either caught your attention with the action or made you laugh with the comedy of the cops. There was even a part in which we thought the main character Mike Lowrey had died and gave the audience the sadness of his death. With each scene in this movie I felt as if the narrator really put effort into making it have a bit of every type of movie into one.
Another main focus of the movie was the characterization of each of the actors from the movie and how each one made a huge role in creating the movie. I liked how the narrator made the two detectives best friends and like family to each other. Besides them being partners at work they were more than that. Mike Lowrey was the uncle of Marcus Burnett’s daughter and even attended the wedding of his daughter. These small things that make the actors more than just people in a movie is what makes the movie better and gets to the feelings of the audience. If these actors were just partners and nothing too serious then when Mike got shot the audience wouldn’t have really cared as much as they did because he was just someone in the movie. There were other actors who were killed in the movie by the drug lords but these characters did not really impact the audience since they were just regular characters in the movies. Another big character in the movie is the drug lord named Isabel Aretas in which her real name is Kate Del Castillo and she’s a very popular actress in the Latin community. So I felt as the narrator was trying to attract other different audiences to watch this movie which I found that it was a good way of appealing to a larger variety. Having a variety of famous actors like Vanessa Hudgens, Nicky Jam, Will Smith, and Kate Del Castillo made the movie more popular since a lot of people tend to watch movies because of the well known actors in them. This attracts a larger audience and a bigger turn out for the new movie.
Lastly, another criteria that I looked at was the cinematography of the movie. This played a huge part because when a movie is recorded or produced wrong, people know it is a low quality movie. People tend to steer away from movies with low production and when there is a lot of camera movement. With this movie I saw a lot of good scenes which looked really realistic like the time that the building was on fire and they threw the drug lord into the massive fire in the building. Then also the fighting scenes with the cops against the drug lords or when the detectives were being chased by all the gang members, were nicely filmed and the camera movements were subtle but capturing every part. As actors do make up the most part of the movies the graphs and the actual production of the movie are equally as important. When there is little investment in the movie the movie comes out badly filmed which causes the bad reviews and less people going to watch it. The more time and effort put in the better quality comes out and better reviews even might produce a follow up movie. This movie made each scene feel real and especially the action parts like the shoot outs and the people getting shot and killed.
Overall this movie made me feel as if I was part of the movie. Every scene felt so real and every emotional scene felt as if I was connected to the characters. I do recommend watching this movie and the prior movies that there are because they are all so good with their comedy/action. Recommend watching it with someone so you could laugh at the jokes together. I felt as the content, the actors, and the cinematography all coincide together to develop the 4.6 star rating the movie has.
